Twenty-one days ago, Santa Claus came to town. He’s now long gone, as are most people’s Christmas trees and decorations. It is truly a sorry sight to see so many curbside displaced evergreens waiting to be picked up. But the show that is 2013 must go on and we have a comedian man (with a beard endearingly Santa-reminiscent) coming to the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse this Saturday night to spread new year hilarious cheer.
His name is Dan Harmon, and he just so happens to be the man responsible for the genius NBC comedy “Community”– a show that I wouldn’t be alone in calling one of the best TV comedies of the past five years. Unfortunately, the show as it was once loved in its first few seasons is no longer as Dan Harmon’s contract was up at the end of last season. The show’s new season is set to start in February, but will probably never be the same without him.
Luckily for us Harmon fans, he is doing a nationwide comedy tour for Harmontown, a podcast he and fellow comedian Jeff Davis have created to wild success. The tour consists of Harmon, Davis and several other funny people performing a combination of stand-up comedy and other hilarity-ensuing theatrics. It should be an amazing time, enough to ensure a bevy of forthcoming “Community” DVD purchases and a lingering regret for not snagging a copy of Harmon’s book “You’ll Be Perfect When You’re Dead” (900 and already gone!). Also, regret will occur if you can’t make this show. Just sayin’.
